Marigolds, tulips and a teal vase on white brick, under three words that could only be painted a few blocks from Baylor.
On the white-painted brick of the little Cha Community shop on South 8th, a bouquet fills the wall: yellow marigolds with their ruffled heads, pale pink tulips and open pink cosmos, dark green leaves fanning out, all rising from a teal vase painted right down at sidewalk level between the café chairs and the gas meter. Arched over the top in a sage-green script: Sip. Shop. Sic ’Em.
The three words are the whole business plan. Cha Community sells boba tea — sip — and this location opened in 2025 sharing its floor with a florist, so half the room is flowers — shop. The third word is the Baylor cheer, because the campus is two blocks away and the bouquet is aimed at the students walking past to class.
Jamie Wong Baesa painted it, and signed it small: her handle, @designswithjamie, sits low on the brick, easy to walk by. She is a former Lorena middle-school teacher who went full-time as an artist in 2024, and the Cha family has kept her busy — the Franklin Avenue shop wears her murals too.
