91The Backyard Jungle

A scarlet macaw painted by the front sign is your first clue that Rosita's on North 25th is not leaving its walls alone. Walk around back and the fence takes over: panel by corrugated panel, the backyard becomes a jungle. A toucan the size of a golden retriever leans in through painted leaves. A pair of macaws face off in full color. Palms lean across a purple-and-orange sunset with a small moon hung over painted water. A waterfall pours down one panel like somebody left the Amazon running.

In between: real turquoise picnic tables, a real palm tree, artificial turf greener than any jungle floor. The whole yard operates on postcard logic — every panel its own scene, every seat at every table facing a different latitude. It's a family restaurant's backyard doing its best rainforest impression, and refusing to break character panel after panel.
