28Razak & Auntie: “We Made It”
“Razak and Auntie” by Faducci (Solomon Bassoff & Dominica Mottarella), 2018 · concrete & steel
The end of the trail. The calmest auntie in Waco, and the beginning of the zoo.
Every parade ends at a gate, and at this gate sits Auntie — the calmest, most unhurried soul in the entire animal kingdom — with wide-eyed little Razak wrapped up safe in her arms. Auntie carried Razak the whole long way, and when they finally reached the red arch she liked the spot so much she decided to stay right here and watch everyone else arrive. She's been welcoming travelers ever since. Look at her sleepy smile and you can hear the end of the story: 'We made it, little one. We made it.' And now — the zoo is open. Go on in.
