31The Bear and the Honey Pot

Somewhere along W Waco Drive the official art map gives up, and walls like this take over. A corner shop wrapped in a purple night: a white waterfall crashing over painted boulders, a black bear standing upright in a chunky gold chain like the neighborhood's appointed doorman, and a giant black pot labeled THE HONEY POT, presumably his. None of it is on any city art registry. No artist has taken credit. As far as the internet is concerned, the photos you're looking at are the best documentation of this wall that exists.

That's the other half of Waco's street art story: for every commissioned, ribbon-cut mural downtown, there's a shopkeeper on a busy road who just wanted a bear on the wall and hired someone with a spray gun and a vision. This stretch has quietly become the most concentrated run of unofficial street art in the city. The map ends here. The paint doesn't.
