“Brunch is…” — Maverick Murals (Robynn Sanders), 2023, The Toasted Yolk CafeMURAL

There is a football scoreboard on this wall. Baylor 100, Texas 0. Painted. Forever.

When this brunch chain arrived from Houston in 2023, they didn't just open a restaurant — they painted Waco a love letter on the side of it. A red Hippodrome-style WACO sign, strawberries, a mimosa mid-pop, two slices of toast whose runny egg forms a heart around “Deep in the Heart of Waco, TX.” Sweet. Charming. And then, tucked into the corner, the single most aggressive piece of public art in the city: a painted football scoreboard reading Sic 'Em Bears 100 — Longhorns 0, clock at 0:00. Final. That score is now brick. It cannot be reviewed, reversed, or forgotten. Every sunrise, Baylor beats Texas 100 to nothing on Washington Avenue.

Sign-painter Robynn Sanders of Maverick Murals did the honors, and left the shop's name modestly at the bottom, presumably before leaving town at speed.

Is this your wall?
