“You Look Nice Today Wacotown” — parking-lot wall near Austin Avenue & N 7thMURAL

Two round pink creatures and one sentence whose entire job is to be kind to strangers.

On a plain wall facing a plain parking lot off Austin Avenue, two round pink creatures — one bashful, one delighted, both wearing excellent little boots — deliver the whole message of the piece: you look Nice today Wacotown. That's it. That's the mural.

And honestly? It might be the most efficient piece of public art in the city. Murals elsewhere on this trail carry history, grief, scripture, civic pride. This wall carries a compliment. You come back to your car with your parking receipt and your errands, and a building tells you that you look nice, and you stand a little straighter for roughly a block and a half. Nobody signed it that we could find. Whoever you are: it's working.
