11The Prince of Scales

“Ornate Spiny-Tailed Lizard (Prince of Scales)” by Faducci (Solomon Bassoff & Domenica Mottarella), 2018 · concrete, steel & glass mosaic

The one statue you're invited to touch. He expects gentle admiration.

Every parade needs royalty, and the Prince of Scales graciously agreed to be it. His back is a treasure chest of blue and gold tiles, his smile says he knows he's the prettiest thing on the riverwalk, and — best of all — his plaque grants royal permission: this is the one statue on the trail that invites you to touch (with care, as one touches a prince). He has been sunbathing here since 2018 and finds your admiration entirely appropriate.
